Affirmations

A vital link for the community in the understanding of prescription drug insurance coverage.

In collaboration with the human service agencies of our communities, CURxED educates extension educators, counselors, trainers, volunteers, family members, and ultimately senior citizens, about the benefits and complexities of choosing a Medicare Part D plan.

CURxED has published Part D plan financial data into a binder set format for local distribution.  The user-friendly format of the CURxED data provides seniors assistance in conducting a systematic comparison to find the most financially suitable Part D plan.

CURxED has been well received locally, as well as at the state and national level.  The pilot phase of this project demonstrated a significant need for such a program as evidenced by the substantial positive feedback from our initial users.  The continuation of CURxED is vital to augment the understanding of Medicare Part D by our seniors and the agencies that assist them.

It is a benefit and pleasure to have the CURxED program, you, and your staff, assisting with the Part D portion of Medicare. I use the quizzes from the e-newsletters as part of my volunteer counselor newsletter. Thanks!

The information makes it easier for seniors to get the Medicare Part D information.  Helping one senior select a drug coverage plan can take up to an hour, depending on the complexity of the person’s need. Being able to show the information on paper (rather than on a computer screen) seems to make the process go smoother and it increases the likelihood that people who need to get into a plan will get a good fit.
